MYKONIAN SUN WITH THE CYCLADIC FEELING...

Mykonos is of the greatest island I have been in Greece and whole of the world. It is a glamour island, happily flaunts it camp and fashionable reputation with style. Beneath the gloss and glitter, however this is a charming and hugely entertaining place where the sometimes frantic mix of good time holidaymakers, cruise ship crowds, posturing fashionistas and preening celebrities, is magically subdued by the cubist charms of Mykonos Town which is a traditional Cyladic maze and the sun. Little Venice is one of the photegenic corners of Mykonos town. Its colourful balconies and the waves make it special and romantic place for the sunset. You can see many kite surfers dancing in the air with the wind.

What was amazing about Mykonos that despite the fact that it was full of tourists and advertised to the world, the local people did not lose their identies.  The island has many beautiful beaches starting from Lia (my favourite), Panormos, Psarou Beach. Super Paradise and Paradise beach.
The island is a big partying destination for the people all around the world. People are integrated here from Brazil to Japan, from United Kingdom to Finland and so on... From all countries you could meet people. All the modern DJs are hosting and dj-ing in the island such as Villalobos and Martin Solveig. That said, there is still a handfull of off-track beaches worth fighting for. Plus, the stylish bars, chic and elegant restaurants and shops have great appeal and you could still find a quieter pulse amid the labrythine old town. Everyone once in their life time should travel to Mykonos. Mykonos really does live up its reputation as a fabulous destination.

Old Town of Mykonos is a captivating labyrinthe that's home to chic boutiques, whiter than white houses decked with "Beouganvillaes and Geraniums" plus eye catching Churches. The Churches are all all over the town white. White is the colour of Mykonos.
On the above, you can see the Church of Panagia Paraportiani. It is actually 5 churches amalgamate, in classical Byzantine style, into assymetrical entity, looking as if it has grown from the rocky ground.
In Greek Mytholog, Mykonos was the location of the battle between Zeus and the Titans and the island was named in honour of Mykons, son of Anios who was son of Apollo and nymph named Rio.
Petros the Pelican (symbol of Mykonos) is an old celebrity of the town's waterfront and Petros has been the official mascot of Mykonos for over 50 years.

And this island would not have been great with the assistance of my dearest friends, Ms.Marietta Giannitsioti and Mr.Yorgos Parisis and their great friends. I would like to thank in Greek for all of you. EFXARISTO POLI :-) Cheers for you all for these three watermelon coctails.

Slovenian Dragons & the Owls

It is a while ago, I have departed from Stefan's place where he lives is the University of Ljubljana's students dormitory. My trip to Ljubljana was a short full day. The city as they say, the easiest and the most enjoyable way to see Ljubljana was on feet. The firts stop was Ljubljana Castle. The castle looked new to me probably because of the renovation in recent years. It was worth to see the Old Tower and the Ljubljanica River from the top of the tower. A bit of climbing did well cardio exercise for me. Then headed to Central Market area. Such an elegant and romantic walk way by the river. In the old town, walked thorugh the Stari Trg (Old Square).
It was probably one of the few best streets I have walked thorugh in my life. Well of course the assistance of Stefan Petkovic made everything easier. Such a helpful and smiley folk from Serbia. He was the new colour of the new window that I opened up to my life. The buildings of the Old Town were mixture of Neo classical and Gothic style. I have walked to the bridge of Dragon, which is the landmark of the Ljubljana city.
One of the other buildings that attracted my attention was Serbian Orthodox Church. The Church is covered from floor to the ceiling with colourful modern frescoes.Serbian Orthodox Church made me feel like the next destination should be definitely Belgrade. Some attractions sights were not visited such as Park Tivoli, National Gallery of Slovenia. Those are to be visited in my next trip where it will be within the summer in two years time with the coloured blossomed flowers and the greenish trees. As I travel to the Krvavec we are hitting the roads of Gorenjske. As I learn from the taxi driver, Krvavec means the Bloody Place somehow. What a name given to the beautiful snow white of this pretty ski resort. The taxi driver drives us through the villages that resembles Austrian country side. Everything is in petite size. The churches, the houses, the farms. It is such a pleasant moment to breathe this fresh oxygen and smell the Julian Alps and watch the village life goes by.
All I know and can see from the Gorenjska Map, I will be snowboarding the in the Kamnik- Slovenija Alps. The region is called Cerklje na Gorenjskem & Krvavec. Time for me to relax for a day in the mountains. This reminded me the sweets my father used to buy me and my sister when we were kids. The winds of the mountains and the cool feeling of the bonbons they called as I recall.

This photo on the above was taken during my walk by the Lake Bled. What a place on earth is Bled. Few kilometers of walk by the trees and emerald water of the lake. I inhale the air and I feel alive again. I can not imagine the summer mood of this place. Bled is a popular destination in Slovenia due to its romantic scenery and access point for Triglav National Park, which offers numerous outdoor adventure opportunuties. Jogging for 5 kms was good for my health and renewed my soul. The town of Bled features a little church on an island in the center of an emerald green mountain lake, with Bled Castle perched high above, amidst the Julian Alps.
Until then Slovenia stay blessed beautiful country. See you soon in the summer of coming years. Also I do not leave you without getting some owls for the ones I love... Slovenian Owls that will bring luck and happiness, love and health, wealth and beauty to our lives...
